The Void is a small, anonymous web toy. It's built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no logins, no ad trackers, and no analytics cookies.
If you don't tick "make it public," the words you type are never sent to our server and are never stored. They exist only in your own browser for a few seconds of animation, then they're gone.
If you choose to tick "let others read this one," the text you wrote is stored and shown publicly, and permanently, alongside a random number and position — never your name, IP, or any identifier (we don't collect those). Because it's public and permanent:
The site and its stored data are hosted by Netlify (United States). Netlify may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations, per their own privacy policy. We don't use those logs to identify or track you.
If you'd like a public void taken down, reach out through winthenight.org and we'll remove it. We may also remove any content at our discretion.
The Void isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect information from them.
